ORTHOLILL >> themen im fokus >> Hip Section
If the wear and tear of the hip joint has reached an advanced stage, we call it coxarthritis. In some of these cases, total hip replacement surgery becomes the best course to recovery.
Endoprostheses (prosthetic hips) are among the most successful standards in medical care. In
Germany alone, about 150 000 artificial hip joints are implanted every year. Via this procedure, many people have the
opportunity to live without persistent pain and severe limitations to their mobility.
Not only in the fields of implant designs and – materials but also when regarding surgical techniques, there is a
continuous progress. In certain cases a hip prosthesis is custom-made preoperatively, using 3D computer simulation.
All options are discussed with each patient carefully. We will work with you to develop a plan that is suited to your
individual circumstances and needs. Minimally invasive surgical procedures available today result in the need for only
very small incisions and preserve muscles better than procedures of the past. As a result, post-operative pain and
recovery time are minimized.
